Terms & notice

Terms, Disclaimer & Independent Developer Notice.

PracticalForge Software is an independent software project. This page explains product expectations, support limits, update limits, user responsibilities, master password recovery limits, and important privacy reminders.

Independent project

Created and maintained by a single developer.

PracticalForge Software is an independent software project created and maintained by a single developer.

The goal of PracticalForge Software is to build practical Windows desktop tools that help with privacy, organization, and everyday digital work. Secure Password Vault is offered as a finished desktop product based on the features described on the product pages at the time of purchase.

I do my best to keep the software clear, useful, and reliable. I also try to provide support when reasonably possible through the official support email. However, PracticalForge Software is not a large company, enterprise service, managed cloud service, or subscription-based support platform.

As-is disclaimer

The software is provided as described and as-is.

Secure Password Vault is provided as a practical Windows desktop application based on the product edition and features described at the time of purchase.

While reasonable care is taken to test and improve the software, it is provided as-is and as available, without a guarantee that it will be error-free, uninterrupted, compatible with every device, or suitable for every individual use case.

Users should evaluate the Demo edition, review the product pages, and decide whether the software fits their needs before purchasing a paid edition.

Purchase terms

What a purchase includes.

A purchase gives access to the product edition selected by the user, based on the product description available at the time of purchase.

Product edition

A purchase gives you access to the product edition you buy, including the installer, license key, and features described for that edition.

No subscription promise

Secure Password Vault Standard and Pro are sold as one-time purchases, not as a managed subscription service.

Review before buying

Before purchasing, please review the product description, compare the editions, and try the Demo edition if you are unsure.

Future development

Future updates and new features are not guaranteed unless clearly stated.

Future updates, improvements, new features, companion apps, mobile versions, bundles, or additional products may be developed over time, but they are not guaranteed unless clearly stated in writing.

Future development may change depending on available time, technical requirements, platform changes, user feedback, and the long-term direction of the project. Some planned ideas may be delayed, changed, released separately, or not released at all.

Updates and support

Support is provided when reasonably possible.

PracticalForge Software aims to support users fairly and clearly, while remaining honest about the limits of an independent one-person software project.

Bug fixes

When reasonable and possible, bug fixes may be provided to improve reliability and correct product issues.

Compatibility improvements

Compatibility improvements may be released when needed and when technically possible.

Security-related corrections

Security-related corrections may be provided when reasonable and possible. Update timing and availability are not guaranteed unless explicitly stated.

No guaranteed update schedule

Update frequency, timing, and long-term update availability are not promised as part of the purchase unless explicitly stated.

Support email

Support is available through support@practicalforge.com for download, installation, license, and product questions.

Clear communication

Users should include the product edition, Windows version, purchase email, and a clear description of the issue when contacting support.

Master password responsibility

If the master password is lost, it cannot be recovered by support.

Secure Password Vault is designed as an offline-first local vault. Your vault data is stored on your own Windows computer and is protected by your master password.

PracticalForge Software does not store your master password, vault password, vault contents, backup files, or private records on a server. Because of this, PracticalForge Software cannot reset, recover, or bypass a lost master password.

Users are responsible for keeping their master password safe and for maintaining their own secure backups. Losing the master password may result in permanent loss of access to the vault.

Master Password FAQ

Important questions before using the vault.

These points are important because Secure Password Vault is designed for local control, not cloud-based password recovery.

What happens if I forget my master password?

PracticalForge Software cannot recover or reset your master password. If you lose it, you may permanently lose access to your vault.

Does PracticalForge store my vault password?

No. PracticalForge Software does not store your master password or vault password on a company server.

Can support unlock my vault?

No. Support cannot unlock, bypass, decrypt, or recover a user vault.

Should I make backups?

Yes. Users are responsible for keeping secure backups of important vault data and storing those backups safely.

Should I send my vault file to support?

No. Do not send vault files, exported browser CSV files, backups, or private vault data to PracticalForge Software support.

Can the Pro emergency sheet help?

Pro includes emergency export tools that may help users prepare offline emergency access information. Users are responsible for storing any exported information securely.

Limitation of liability

Users are responsible for their own devices, passwords, backups, and data handling.

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, PracticalForge Software and its developer are not responsible for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or financial damages arising from use or inability to use the software.

This includes, without limitation, loss of data, loss of passwords, loss of access, loss of business, device problems, operating system changes, third-party software issues, user mistakes, lost master passwords, deleted backups, or insecure handling of exported files.

Nothing on this page is intended to exclude rights that cannot be excluded under applicable consumer protection law. Users may still have legal rights depending on their location.

Mobile and future tools

Future products are not included unless clearly stated.

Secure Password Vault Pro may include tools prepared for future mobile workflows, such as QR/mobile pairing or device transfer tools. However, any separate mobile app, companion app, bundle, or additional product is not included unless clearly stated on the product page or purchase page.

Any future product may be delayed, changed, sold separately, or not released at all.

Privacy and security reminder

Keep your private vault data private.

Secure Password Vault is designed as an offline-first Windows desktop tool. Your vault data is stored locally on your own computer.

Local vault data

Your saved vault records are intended to remain on your own Windows computer. PracticalForge Software does not need your private vault contents for normal support.

Never send secrets

PracticalForge Software support will never ask for your master password, vault password, exported browser CSV files, vault backups, or private vault contents.

User responsibility

Users are responsible for keeping their master password safe, protecting their computer, keeping backups secure, and deleting unencrypted browser CSV exports after importing them.
